1.5m Stanchion Rope for Queue Barrier - 28mm Braided, Choose Your Colour

A 1.5 m braided stanchion rope with a clip at each end, sold one rope at a time. This is the replacement and top-up rope for our rope barrier posts, and it fits most other brands that use the same clip size. Pick the rope colour and the clip colour to match what you already own.

The rope is 28 mm thick and the clips are 28 mm, which is the size our rope barrier posts take — both the classic posts and the heavy-duty ones. If you need a wider span between posts, our 2 m ropes use a 32 mm clip and fit the same posts.

One rope spans the gap between two posts, so count the gaps, not the posts: a run of four posts needs three ropes. 1.5 m is the standard indoor spacing — close enough that the line reads as a barrier rather than a suggestion, and the rope hangs in a proper curve instead of a straight pull.

Buying a second colour is the cheap way to change a room. The same posts with a red rope read as an event and with a black rope read as everyday, and swapping takes a few seconds per gap because the clips are spring-loaded.

Questions & Answers

Q: Will it fit my posts?
A: It clips onto any ring or hook that takes a 28 mm clip, which is what our silver, gold, black and black-and-gold rope posts use, as well as the heavy-duty silver and gold ones. Most other brands use the same size, but measure the ring if you are topping up a set that did not come from us.

Q: How many ropes do I need?
A: One per gap. Four posts in a straight line make three gaps, so three ropes. For a loop around a display, posts and ropes come out even.

Q: 1.5 m or 2 m?
A: 1.5 m is the standard indoor spacing and what most queues use. Go to 2 m if you want to cover more ground with fewer posts — the trade-off is a longer drape and a line that is easier to step over. Note the 2 m rope uses a 32 mm clip.

Q: Can I mix colours in one run?
A: Yes, and people do — alternating colours to mark where a queue splits, or one colour for a members-only section. The clips are the same, so any rope goes on any post.

Q: What if a clip breaks?
A: You do not need a whole new rope. We sell clip ends as a set of 2 in gold or silver, and the 28 mm size is the one for these ropes.

Q: Can I run a rope to a wall instead of a post?
A: Yes. The chrome and gold wall hooks screw to the wall and take the same clip, which is how you finish a run against a wall instead of standing a post there.

Q: Can I use this on a retractable belt barrier?
A: No. Belt barriers use a belt in a cassette, not a rope and clip — different system entirely.

Q: Braided or velvet?
A: Braided. In our experience braided rope holds its shape and its colour better over time, so it is what we keep on the shelf. If a room really calls for velvet, ask us.
