Menu stands, lecterns and catalogue holders
They go by several names - a menu stand, a menu holder, a floor standing menu display, a lectern, a podium stand, a catalogue or brochure stand. What they have in common is a sloped or upright panel on a pole, over a weighted base, holding something to be read by someone on their feet. Which one you want comes down to two questions: how much you need to show at once, and whether the content changes daily or stays put for a season.
A4 ring binder lecterns - the everyday one
A slanted board with an A4 ring binder built into it. Pages go into clear sleeves and the binder flips, so a multi-page menu, a wine list or a price book lives on one stand and the customer turns the pages themselves. Changing a page is a matter of opening the rings.
Same stand in three finishes: black, silver and gold. Pick the one that disappears into the room you are putting it in - black against dark joinery, silver in a modern fit-out, gold where the room is already warm.
There is also a black version with an A4 sign holder on top, for when the stand has to carry a headline as well as the pages underneath - a special, a wait time, a "please order at the counter".
Slanted panel stands - A3 and A2
No binder, just one large printed panel on a slope. This is the one for a single board that stays up: a set menu, a daily specials sheet, a tariff card, a directory.
The A3 stand has a magnetic front panel, so the sheet is held flat by the panel itself rather than clipped at the edges - it comes off and goes back in seconds, which suits a board that changes daily. The A2 stand is the same idea at the larger size, in powder-coated steel, for a foyer where the sign has to carry across a room. The wood-look stand takes a wider panel again and is the warmest looking of the three - restaurants and hotels tend to go for it over the painted steel.
Carrying a binder and a sign at the same time
The large lectern with an angle-adjustable A4 sign holder is the heaviest stand here and the one built for a spot where it will be bumped - a busy entrance, a queue, a trade stand. The ring binder lifts out, the sign holder on top tilts to the reading angle, and the base is wider than the rest of the range.
On the counter instead of the floor
Where there is no floor space to give up, the rotating tabletop menu holder sits on the counter and spins: ten double-sided pockets on one turning stand, so twenty pages are in reach without anything being handed over. It suits a cafe counter, a reception desk or a takeaway till.
Restaurants, cafes, hotels and receptions
A menu at the door does a job a menu on the table cannot - it is read by people who have not decided to come in yet. The same stand in a hotel foyer carries the breakfast times and the function room directory; on a reception desk it holds the service list; at a trade stand it holds the catalogue so nobody has to carry one around.

Brochure and catalogue holders
If what you actually need is somewhere to put take-away leaflets rather than a menu to read on the spot, the brochure and literature holders are the right shelf - pockets and tiers rather than a single reading panel.

What is a lectern stand?
A lectern is a stand with a sloped top that holds something to be read while standing. In a restaurant or a hotel it is the menu stand at the door; in a church or a hall it is the reading desk. The stands on this page are the first kind - floor standing, weighted base, sloped panel or binder.
How many pages does a ring binder lectern hold?
As many as the binder takes - pages go into clear sleeves and the sleeves go on the rings, so a multi-page menu or price list lives on one stand. Changing a single page means opening the rings, not reprinting the lot.
Which size do I need?
A4 if the content is a list to be read from close up - a menu, a wine list, a price book. A3 or A2 if it has to be read from across a room, or if it is a single designed board rather than a list. The exact panel and board sizes are on each product page.
Can a menu stand go outside?
Not these ones. They are weighted for indoor floors, not for wind, and the finishes are not made to live outdoors. A footpath wants a pavement sign built for it.
