Kitting out an exhibition stand

Everything here has to go up fast, come down faster, and fit in whatever you arrived in. Each stop is one decision and the type of product that settles it.

Start here

Three questions decide every purchase for a show: how quickly does it go up, how flat does it pack, and can one person manage it alone at 7am.

Getting people to stop

Be readable from the aisle

At a show you are competing with every other stand in the hall for somebody walking past at speed. What stops them is one message, large, at eye level, readable from several metres back rather than from arm’s length.

You needFreestanding poster stands that travel flat, a snap frame on legs you can re-skin between shows, and an A-frame for the foyer or registration area outside the hall.

Weighted base standStable on a hall floor, packs down between shows.
Snap frame on legsChange the print on site, without tools.
Double sidedAn aisle has two directions; a single sided sign serves one of them.
Folding A-frameFor a foyer, a registration desk or an outdoor entrance.
TipPrint on board rather than paper for anything that travels. Paper creases in transit, and a creased poster is the first thing a visitor notices.

On the stand

Show the product properly

A product lying flat on a table is seen by whoever is standing directly over it. Lift it and cover it and it is seen from the aisle, and it survives being handled by several hundred people over three days.

You needRisers and cases to lift and protect the product, counter holders for prices and show offers, and slide-in frames for anything that changes during the show.

RiserSteps the back row up so a whole table is visible at once.
Clear caseVisible and out of reach. Stacks for transport.
Counter holderPrice, offer or show special at the point somebody picks it up.
Slide-in frameChange a price in seconds, on the stand, with no tools.
TipThe cases stack into each other for the drive home, which is the real reason to buy one size rather than a mix. The grooves only line up between cases of the same size.

Literature and takeaways

Let people help themselves

Half of a show is people collecting things to look at later. A stack on the corner of the table falls over by mid-morning; a rack keeps it upright and keeps the table clear for the conversations you came for.

You needA floor rack for the brochures and a wall or counter pocket where the stand has a back wall to use.

Multi-pocket floor rackSeveral different leaflets, each with a stack behind it.
Folding rackPacks flat into a car boot.
On wheelsFor a rack that moves between the stand and the storeroom each day.
Wall or counter pocketFor a stand with a back wall or a counter to mount on.
TipCount the leaflets you will actually keep stocked, not the number you are bringing. A rack with empty pockets on day two reads as a stand nobody is looking after.

Managing the crowd

Hold a line without staff doing it

A demonstration, a giveaway or a launch draws a crowd that will form its own shape unless you give it one. Barriers do that without a staff member standing there repeating themselves.

You needBelt barriers for a moving line, rope barriers where the stand should read as an occasion, and post sign holders so the barrier also says what is happening and when.

Belt barrierPulls out when the crowd forms, winds away afterwards.
Rope barrierFor a launch, a VIP area or anything that should feel like an occasion.
Posts with a sign holderQueue here, demonstration at 11, members only.
Spare ropesA second colour changes the look without changing the posts.
TipKeep the cartons. They are the easiest way to move posts without the bases chipping each other, and a chipped base is the part visitors see.

Buying for more than one site?

Most of what we ship goes to organisations fitting out several rooms or several locations at once. Send the quantities, the sizes and the delivery postcodes and we will price it as one order, freight included, so the figure you take to approval is the figure you pay. Orders are dispatched within one business day.
