Polished Stainless Steel Rope Barrier Stanchion

A single silver rope barrier stanchion - a crowd control bollard for guiding a queue or roping off an area in a hotel lobby, a gallery, a function room or a VIP entrance. The rope is not included: you pick the colour and length to suit, from black rope, silver clips, silver rope, red rope, silver clips.

The post is 92 cm tall, 5.2 cm across, and stands on a 32 cm base that is an iron shell filled with cement, with a rubber ring underneath so it does not slide or mark a polished floor. Polished stainless steel, silver.

The rope clips onto a ring just under the top, so a run comes apart and goes back together in seconds without tools. At 92 cm the rope sits at about waist height, which is where people read it as a line to follow rather than something to step over.

The ring takes up to four ropes on the one bollard, so a queue can branch, turn a corner or cross without a second barrier post standing next to it.

The post weighs 6 kg - heavy enough to stand steady on a hard floor, light enough to move without a trolley.

Questions & Answers

Q: Is the rope included?
A: No - the post is sold on its own so you can choose the rope. Ours come in black rope, silver clips, silver rope, red rope, silver clips at 1.5 m, and there is a 2 m rope if you want a longer span.

Q: How many posts do I need?
A: Count the spans, not the posts: every span needs a rope, and every run needs one more post than it has spans. A four-span line takes five posts and four ropes. Corners and turns each need a post of their own.

Q: What ropes fit it?
A: Both of ours. The 1.5 m ropes are 28 mm braided with a 28 mm clip; the 2 m ropes are 30 mm with a 32 mm clip. Either clips onto the ring under the top. The rope hangs in a curve, so set the posts a little closer than the rope is long and let it drape. We stock black rope, silver clips, silver rope, red rope, silver clips.

Q: Why a rope barrier instead of a retractable belt?
A: Looks, mostly. A rope reads as an invitation - a hotel lobby, a gallery opening, a red carpet. A retractable belt post is the practical choice where a queue moves all day and the line has to be set up and taken down quickly.

Q: Can it go outside?
A: It is made for indoor use. You can take it outside when the weather suits and it will do the job, but it is not designed to live outdoors permanently - bring it back in when you are finished.

Q: Do you sell velvet rope?
A: Braided is what we keep on the shelf and what ships by default - in our experience it holds its shape and its look a little better over time. Velvet we can do as a special order rather than off the shelf, so if that is what the room calls for, get in touch and we will sort it out.

Q: Will it mark a polished floor?
A: There is a rubber ring around the underside of the base, so the post sits on rubber rather than on bare metal. It is the same base we use under our retractable belt posts.

Q: Is there a shorter one?
A: Yes - a 62 cm version in the same finish, for shows and galleries where the rope should not hide the display behind it.
