Description
A double sided floor stand for a printed board, 165 cm from the floor to the top of the frame on a 46 cm square base. One board goes in and is read from both sides, so print the board on both faces and the stand does two jobs at once in an aisle or a foyer.
The board slides in from the top and sits in the frame under its own weight - no clips, no screws, nothing to undo. Changing the message means lifting one board out and dropping the next one in. At 165 cm the board sits well above head height in the frame, so it stays where you put it.
A note on the size. It is sold as an A1 stand because that is what people call it, but the slot takes a 600 x 900 mm board - 59 x 89 cm of visible area. That is the standard corflute sheet size in Australia, not the paper A1 size. A true A1 sheet is 594 x 841 mm, so it is about 5 cm short in the frame and will sit loose.
What goes in it is a rigid board, not a loose sheet. In Australia that usually means corflute - the fluted plastic sheet used for real estate and site signage - cut to 600 x 900 mm. A sign shop will print it for you, and a blank sheet costs a few dollars at a local hardware shop if you want to mount your own artwork on it. Anything rigid at that size and up to 8 mm thick drops into the slot: 3 mm or 5 mm corflute, foam board, a thin composite panel.
Print both faces of that one board. The same board is what people see from either side of the stand, so the back of it is the second face of your sign - a blank back is half a stand doing nothing.
Using a paper poster: mount it on a 600 x 900 mm corflute backing board and slide that in. A corflute sheet in that size costs a few dollars at a local hardware shop, and the board is what holds the print flat and square in the frame. The stand does not come with a cover sheet or a board - a loose sheet of paper on its own will not stand up in the slot.
The frame is portrait and does not turn - it is fixed to the pole that way. The stand is black iron: the frame, the pole and the base. It ships flat, one stand per carton, and goes together in about a minute with basic tools.
This is an indoor stand - shop floors, foyers, aisles, reception areas, trade stands. For a sign that has to live outside on the footpath, use a stand built for weather: a pavement sign on a water-filled base is made for that job.

Questions & Answers
Q: How many boards do I need?
A: One. The same board is read from both sides, so have it printed on both faces. You do not need two boards back to back.
Q: What size board does it take?
A: 600 x 900 mm, up to 8 mm thick. The visible area in the frame is 59 x 89 cm. Corflute is what it is made for, but any rigid board at that size and thickness works.
Q: What is corflute, and where do I get it?
A: Corflute is a fluted plastic sheet - light, rigid and the standard material for printed signage here. A sign shop will print a 600 x 900 mm board for you, or a blank sheet costs a few dollars at a local hardware shop if you are mounting your own print on it.
Q: Can I use a normal A1 paper poster?
A: Not on its own - it is 5 cm short of the slot and too soft to stand in it. Mount it on a 600 x 900 mm corflute board first and it will sit properly.
Q: Can the frame turn landscape?
A: No. It is fixed portrait on the pole.
Q: Does the board need clipping in?
A: No. It drops in from the top and its own weight holds it. There is nothing to undo when you change it.
Q: Can it be used outside?
A: It is built as an indoor stand. For a footpath or anywhere it has to stand up to weather, use a pavement sign on a weighted base instead.
Q: Does it arrive assembled?
A: It ships flat, one stand per carton. Frame onto pole, pole into base - about a minute of work with basic tools.
